An affordable, stress-free alternative to horse ownership.
ride bond unwind
Introducing
the Shared Standies program; a new approach to horsemanship.
We have several special Standardbreds (chosen for safety and versatility) who are waiting to embark on new
experiences, and build relationships, with loving riders.
Knowing firsthand the perils of urban
life, we have chosen to open the gates to our picturesque family property to
suburban riders who otherwise would miss out on the joy of riding.
We are trained in first aid and are
most happy to share our sand menage' and roundyard, jumps areas, vast pleasure
riding spaces and take a trail ride with lease riders who seek a weekly, or
twice-weekly break from the rat-race.
Our horses were intercepted upon retiring from harness racing, many of
whom had no future before coming to our facility.
They all have extremely loving, willing temperaments and
have been trained to provide an enjoyable, fuss-free and (most importantly) safe
riding experience for lease riders.
Each horse will be assigned to riders across four days of the week, to
ensure that their fitness remains at a high level and their education continues
to be developed.
Riders will be
assessed and paired with a mount which meets their specific needs.
Unlike casual rent-a-horse offers or
trial rides, the Shared Standies program promotes a partnership between horse
and rider, enhancing rider skill and confidence potential.
Lease riders are invited to spend as
many hours as they like on assigned lease days, simply enjoying the escapism of
life in the countryside.
We
understand that horsemanship begins well before you put your feet in the
stirrups and so provide lessees with the privacy to groom, bond and relax in
the company of our horses.
Bareback, lunging, groundwork and other alternative activities are
encouraged and an overall horse experience is catered for.
This Shared Standies program is perfect
for riders returning to the saddle, who cannot commit to the time or financial
stresses that horse ownership can bring.
Our attentive team care for each lease horse here on our dedicated
equine property every day, taking on all of the responsibility, and the
less-glamourous side, of horse care - whilst lease riders come out and enjoy
the brighter side of things.
The
fees associated with this program are affordable and fixed so that there are no
unforeseen bills.
The Shared
Standies program turns your horse dreams into an enjoyable reality. It's all about hassle-free horsemanship!
A note from a current Shared Standies lessee 'Stacey':
My experience with the Raising the Standards 'Shared
Standes lease program has been one that I regard very highly and is
something that I look forward to each and every week! Being a horse lover,
and rider from an early age, I had previously experienced the privilege of
owning my own horses - but now feel the pressures of work/study life and everyday
expenses. I cannot think of anything better
than the lease program!
The lease property is beautiful. Now living in the suburbs, it
is so refreshing to be able to indulge in the beautiful Raising the
Standards property after a hard/long week at work. There are regular sightings of native wildlife, great
country views and clean country air; the facilities are great and the gear
is clean, functional and readily available.
The team at Raising the Standards are fantastic, all
very friendly and extremely helpful. No horsie question goes unanswered,
advice is shared and there is a great wealth of knowledge behind the
gorgeous Standardbred breed.
Most of all, the horses are all amazing; each having their
own different personality and stories. It's a therapeutic
experience for me to come away from my week to the lease program and spend time
with my dear lease horse Bailey. I also
like to say my hellos to the other horses, give each a pat, meet the new
additions and hear of their progress. All the horses are extremely well
looked after and really are in such a loving, supportive environment. I really do commend the Raising the
Standards team for all that they do.
Thanks to the Raising the Standards team for providing
an excellent opportunity for all us horse-less riders!
Raising the Standards is located just 3 minutes off the
Hume Hwy, in Clonbinane - which is only 35 minutes from
Melbourne's Northern suburbs.
With road upgrades, such as Citylink, Eastlink and the Western Ring Road, Clonbinane is a very accessible location from most of Victoria and an easy drive on 100-110km freeways.
